Thanks for your prompt and detailed answer.

You are correct that any advance recd will be short term payable. But in my situation, i will not be able to account it like customer advance as Post dated cheque received cannot be deposited (credit entry) to bank immediately. To complete the double entry book keeping entry, i need to debit some thing. What G.L to debit?

Also, i cannot credit / set off my customer normal item as suggested by SAP process of Post dated cheque (Business requirement).

That is why thought i will again debit by customer Spl G.L with same recon a/c as normal recon a/c.

Kindly suggest any available options.
